I tuned in yesterday and this stuck out to me as well. Itโ€™s amazing how many people I run into outside of the WordPress community, who still see WordPress as the classic editor experience. Block editing is the standard experience for site/page builders across the board, but itโ€™s only just now starting to pick up steam in WordPress.

Iโ€™m thankful to have a part in this future of WordPress. And to anyone thinking about jumping in, there are ripe opportunities all around. Iโ€™d encourage you to think far ahead, donโ€™t necessarily do things the โ€œWordPressโ€ way, and be a part of this future - bringing modern site building to WordPress.
When I had a theme shop I started with renewal discounts, but stopped after the first year and saw no measurable difference.
Iโ€™m not a fan of most discounting, other than educational really. If itโ€™s good software, it costs $. Both for you to maintain, and for the customer to continue paying. If the value remains is the same on day one as it is on day 365, the renewal amount should be as well.
